Housing

The Housing and Community Service Branch strives in providing safe and affordable housing to formerly homeless men. Located on the 3rd and 4th floors at 40 Lawrence Street, the Lawrence YMCA Single Residency Occupancy Program (SRO), administered by the Lawrence Housing Authority (LHA) is funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Our program is designed to provide supportive services in areas of housing stability, increase income, and achieve greater self-determination.

The initial application process begins at the offices of the LHA at 353 Elm Street, Lawrence MA. Eligible individuals will be placed on a waiting list on a first come-first served basis with the exception of Homeless Veterans, who will automatically receive top priority.

If you or someone you know is currently homeless feel free to contact us directly at the Lawrence YMCA SRO at 978-686-6191 and ask to be transferred to the SRO program. We look forward to assisting you.
